Unaprijed definirana mjera koja se koristi za praćenje uspješnosti u postizanju kakvog strateškog cilja, plana, inicijative ili poslovnog procesa. Ključni pokazatelji uspješnosti se procjenjuju u odnosu na ciljanu vrijednost. Eksplicitna i mjerljiva vrijednost preuzeta izravno iz izvora podataka. Ključnim pokazateljima uspješnosti se mjeri učinak u određenom području, primjerice prihod po kupcu.
